To mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen, Hailsham Festival cordially invites you to step into the world of bonnets, ballrooms, and blistering wit with a special immersive screening of Pride & Prejudice (2005) starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
Arrive early and you’ll find yourself greeted by Regency-era characters come to life — be prepared for a bow, a curtsy, or a pointed remark about your hemline. Before the film begins, settle in for live readings from Austen’s works to set the scene and stir the soul.
Cosplay is enthusiastically encouraged, so dust off your empire waistlines, tailcoats and cravats — there will be a prize for Best Dressed, awarded to the most dazzling Darcy or exquisite Elizabeth.
Whether you come for the romance, the razor-sharp repartee, or to see Mr Darcy stride moodily through the mist, this is your chance to revel in the elegance and drama of Austen’s world… without popcorn.
